When working on a remote Linux server, with no (easy) way to fix things if a reboot goes wrong, I was looking for ways to investigate the current Grub configuration.  One Anthony of HantsLUG<\/a> suggested using boot_info_script<\/a>, which turns out to be a very useful tool for this.<\/p>\n

It creates output that starts like this:<\/p>\n

                  Boot Info Script 0.60    from 17 May 2011\n\n============================= Boot Info Summary: ===============================\n\n => Grub2 (v1.97-1.98) is installed in the MBR of \/dev\/sda and looks at sector\n    1 of the same hard drive for core.img. core.img is at this location and\n    looks for (md0)\/grub on this drive.\n => Grub2 (v1.97-1.98) is installed in the MBR of \/dev\/sdb and looks at sector\n    1 of the same hard drive for core.img. core.img is at this location and\n    looks for (md0)\/grub on this drive.\n<\/pre>\n

and then continues with more details about the Grub settings.<\/p>\n
